Hours you choose — through licensed providers only

Hourly cleaning services

Hourly cleaning — what people often call “hourly maids” — suits anyone who needs help cleaning the home for a set number of hours: before a gathering, after an occasion, or once a week, without a long contract. The customer chooses the hours and days; the cleaner arrives on time and leaves when the time is up.

In the Kingdom this service is regulated and must be provided through companies and platforms licensed to offer hourly domestic labour services. That’s why we only pass your request to providers that say they are licensed for this service, and we recommend booking only through licensed providers and checking their licence yourself.

What hourly cleaning usually includes

  • General home cleaning

Rooms, majlis, surfaces and floors, as far as the booked time allows.

  • Kitchen and bathrooms

Cleaning worktops, sinks and bathrooms, and washing dishes if you ask.

  • Tidying

Tidying rooms and beds and folding clean laundry, as agreed.

  • Flexible hours

You choose the hours and days, once or on a recurring basis.

What it doesn’t include

This service is not recruitment or sponsorship, and it creates no direct employment relationship between you and the worker. The worker is employed by the licensed provider, which is responsible for their residency, salary and transport; you deal with the provider, not the worker directly. This site offers no recruitment or sponsorship-transfer services.

It also doesn’t usually include specialist jobs that need machines, such as sofa and carpet cleaning, floor polishing, or tank and facade cleaning. Request those from specialist cleaning companies. Read about deep cleaning and sofa and carpet cleaning.

Don’t make arrangements with a worker offering services directly outside licensed providers, however easy or cheap it seems: it can expose you to regulatory violations and leaves you without protection if a problem arises.

How booking and the visit work

You book the hours and time through the licensed provider, and know in advance how many workers will come, whether they’re female or male, and what the time covers. The cleaner usually arrives by the provider’s transport, works for the booked time and leaves.

Because time is limited, it’s best to set priorities before the cleaner arrives — the kitchen first, then bathrooms, then rooms, for example. A few hours aren’t enough for a deep clean of the whole home; if that’s what it needs, it’s better to request a deep clean from a cleaning company with a full team.

If you need the service regularly, ask the provider about recurring bookings and whether the same cleaner can come each time — it makes the work quicker and more comfortable for you.

In busy seasons — the last days of Ramadan, before Eid and holidays — demand for hourly bookings rises sharply, so book as early as you can. If you’re hosting guests, book hours the day before or that morning, and more hours afterwards to put the home back in order; it’s easier than trying to do everything in one long visit.

How to prepare

  • Set clear priorities, because time is limited.
  • Ask the provider whether the cleaner brings products and tools or you supply them.
  • Put valuables somewhere safe.
  • Be at home yourself, or have an adult family member present, during the visit.
  • Treat the cleaner with respect, and provide a place to rest and water.

Products, workers and licensing

Some providers bring products and tools; others assume the customer supplies them, so confirm when booking. If you supply the products, choose ones suited to your surfaces, and never ask the cleaner to mix cleaning products — especially bleach with other cleaners — as this can release harmful gases.

Most important of all: book through a provider licensed for hourly domestic labour services, and check its licence yourself through official channels. A licensed provider is responsible for its workers, their documents and their rights, and gives you clear protection if a problem arises.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Are you licensed to provide hourly domestic labour services, and how can I check?
  • What is the minimum booking, and how many workers will come?
  • Do you bring products and tools?
  • Can the same cleaner come on recurring visits?
  • What are the cancellation and rescheduling terms?
  • What happens if something is damaged during the work?

What drives the price?

  • The number of hours and workers.
  • One-time or recurring bookings.
  • Products supplied by the provider or by you.
  • Timing: evenings, weekends and pre-season periods are in higher demand.
